Brrrrring! We’ve been adding some cool stuff to our Toggl mobile time tracking apps. Here’s a quick overview of what has changed.
The new stuff:
Material design! If you haven’t used your Android app in a while, you’ll be surprised to see it has received a complete design overhaul, in line with Google’s material design principles. Here’s what it looks like right now:
In release that will follow, we’ll be adding new features and of course, restore some of the old features that were lost with the new configuration.
Creating projects on your phone. We’ve added a project add screen, meaning you’re no longer limited to choosing from existing projects when starting a time entry. Currently, you can only define project colour (in addition to the name), but we’ll be gradually adding more functionalities there.
Swipe to delete. Swipe deletes the time entry. If you deleted it accidentally, you can quickly get it back with the “undo” option. Close call!
Grouped mode. Another thing that we’re playing around with right now is a “grouped mode” for grouping time entries. It’s currently only available in Android, but we’re hoping to release it for the iPhone soon enough.
Keep in mind, though, that this feature is pretty much in an alpha-stage at the moment – so changes will happen.
The overall idea behind grouped mode is to give you a cleaner overview of your entries. Toggl will still register each new time entry separately, but identical entries will be displayed as one, with the option to resume tracking. Again, future configurations might change, but currently we’re grouping time entries that share the same project, client, workspace and description.
If you want to test this feature out, simply enable it from the “settings” menu.
Aside from these, we’ll of course be working on the smaller fixes, tweaks and patches. If you spot anything that you think is not working as it should, feel free to drop us a line at email@example.com, or post it here in the comments.
We’ll be working hard this summer on all Toggl apps. Take a look here for news and plans on Toggl Desktop.
