Hello all,

The long-awaited integration with Planner is finally here! You can find it under Settings – Integration:

The instructions are also displayed above, but in a nutshell you have to fill in your Planner account name and the API token (found under My Profile in Planner). Automatic sync is optional.

What will be synchronized?

Team members, clients and projects are imported from Planner.

Team members, clients and projects are exported to Planner (effectively keeping the two lists in sync between two applications).

Sub-tasks in Planner become (planned) tasks in Toggl; this works in both ways.

Please note that the first time you sync, it might take a couple of minutes to complete, depending on the amount of tasks. And archived projects will not get synced, in case you were wondering.

As always, your feedback is appreciated!

The link “View project” will take you this projects view. Here are couple of other new features – first, the project page has been re-ordered so that team and tasks are at the top, to provide easier access to most used functions. Another, this time a pro feature is setting rate for team members within a project:

Just click on “set rate” and you can set individual rates for team members, which are then used in reporting. If no individual rate is set, project or client specific rate is used.

We just released two major updates to our Basecamp integration:

To-do list import. You can now import your Basecamp to-do lists and items to track time against them. Since Toggl does not have to-do lists then the lists are imported as projects (with the name format of “Project name [to-do list name]“) and items as tasks. That means you can track time to tasks under to-do list projects and export these time entries to Basecamp to-do items.

Automatic synchronization. It is now possible to set the integration up to synchronize with Basecmap automatically. It can sync once per day at any specified time.

These changes are in the new version only and both settings can be enabled on the “Settings” -> “Integration” page.

Hey!

We made some changes to planned tasks, which by the way are called just “tasks” now. Here are the updates:

Like said, “planned tasks” are called “tasks” now. The previous naming caused confusion in our users. This also seems to be the convention around project management and time tracking apps.

Regular tasks are called “time entries”. This modification was already made a few weeks ago but I’ll just mention it again.

Tasks have an active flag. That means you can set a task to be inactive and it won’t show up in the timers. If you are done with a task, just make it inactive and it won’t clutter your timer any more. You can always reactivate it from the project edit screen.

A very convenient way to track a task has been added. Namely, in the project selection box, you can see your active tasks indented under your projects. Like this:

NB! All these aforementioned changes are in the new version only.

Cheers,

Toggl Team

P.S. We are currently working on the possibility to import to-do lists from Basecamp. Stay tuned!

Toggl Team is excited to introduce you to the beta version of the new Toggl 3.0.

What is new:

Completely rewritten “Tasks” page. The page itself is now a timer and you can use it also to enter past tasks.

Task’s start/stop times and duration are now strictly bound to each other (duration always equals stop time minus start time).

Overhauled navigation that is easier and more intuitive.

Task’s billable flag has moved into the Pro version.

Tags feature has been moved into the Pro version. Tags will stay in the free version.

Works nicely on devices with touch-screen.

To make your Toggl account more personal, we added a possibility to upload an avatar.

You can find the new version at http://new.toggl.com. It works on the same database as the current version. So, you can log in with your account and all the changes made in the new version (tasks created, projects changed, etc) are carried over to the current version. No data is lost when you use the new version.

The reason why we moved the billable flag and tags to the Pro version is we want to keep the free version for basic time tracking. Everything related to billing, integrations, productivity, etc. can be found in the Pro version.

The old (current) version and the new one will work side-by-side until the end of this year. After that, the old version will be dropped. All the great new features that are in our pipeline (integration with invoicing apps, new public reports, planned tasks overhaul, etc.) will be added only to the new version. No new stuff for the old version, bugfixes only.

Nothing will change with our timers Nano and Classic, they are here to stay. The only difference is that you can’t use them on the website directly (the new “Home” page does the tracking). If you have used a timer on the web page, try the task timer in the new version or use Toggl Desktop.

NB! This is the first public version of new Toggl. Your suggestions and comments will shape it during the next couple of months. Let us know what you think.

Cheers,

Toggl Team

We released a new version yesterday. It includes many bugfixes and improvements. Here are the biggest changes:

Project template
This feature allows you to easily create a new project based on an existing template project. That means that every new project will be created with template project’s settings: billing, estimates, planned tasks and team. More information and how-to can be found on the FAQ page.

NB! Available only for Toggl Pro plans.

Classic timer improvements

Page title in the pop-out now includes task’s name and project;

Fixed a layout issue with long planned task names;

Added a button to erase search bar text;

Cheers,

Toggl Team
