Today was another launchday. Here’s what got done:

1. Tags in the Timer

Now you can add/remove tags right there in the Timer. Just select them from the dropdown.

2. New feeds

You may have already noticed a few new icons on the dashboard.

Now there’s a possibility to subscribe to your tasks. The first one is for your recent tasks and the second one is for Google Calendar. Just copy/paste the feed link to your favorite reader/Google Calendar.

NB! For Premium users only.

3. Changeable time frame on the dashboard charts

As you can see there are three options: this month, this week and today.

NB! For Premium workspaces only!

4. Reset filters link in reports

For faster filter cleanup.

5. Possibility to choose a time format

There are two choices: 12-hour and 24-hour clock. It can be changed under “My Settings”.

6. Timer now allows two tasks with the same name

That is two tasks with the same name under the same project on the same day. Something like this:

7. Billable amounts and currencies now seperated in the CSV export

For easier processing.

Cheers,

The Toggl Team

1. The first new thing is planned tasks which is basically a way to categorize your tasks under a project and review each categories progress. You can set an estimate to every planned task and decide who has the access to track time under that planned task.

Planned tasks appear in the Timer as gray tasks, just like past tasks. However, when you hover over one with your mouse, it displays a small text “Planned task” in the bottom-right corner. When you click on it, Timer will start a new task which belongs to that specific planned task.

You can always keep an eye (estimate vs actual) on the progress of your planned tasks. The information is available on the project statistics page:

NB! Planned tasks are available to Premium subscribers only! More info in our FAQ.

2. The second improvement is the ability to add/remove tags in the task edit view:

3. The third addition is export to a spreadsheet (XLS) file. You could use it as a base for an invoice.

NB! Spreadsheet export functionality is available to Premium subscribers only!

4. Furthermore, the new version includes optimizations, which will make Toggl faster for you.

Cheers,

Toggl Team

Hello you all!

We just launched a new version of Toggl. Updates include:

new payment gateway besides PayPal for Premium subscriptions; no need to create a PayPal account anymore;

the user option “Close the running task when browser exits” changed to a “Warn when tracking time while the browser is closed”; that means if you leave a task running and close your browser, then when you return (and have been away for more than 10 minutes), Toggl tells you how long you have been away and offers to keep or remove that time from the task;

a small notice flash at the bottom of the Timer that will appear when the Timer is posting information about your work to the server; that servers the purpose of feedback on (un)successful task saves;

possibility to resend team member invitations;

starting day of the week can now be any day of the week – from Monday to Sunday;

appearance modifications for lists to make them more consistent;

We will appreciate every bit of feedback on the updates! It will help us improve Toggl for you.

Thanks for reading!

Toggl Premium!

Today I’m writing to tell you a little bit about our Premium subscription – what it is and what benefits it offers. As you might have heard, we now have 4 different Premium plans in addition to the free plan. All the Premium plans have the same functionality. The only difference is in the team size. Check it out: Toggl subscription plans. (Hint: there is a 30-day free trial period)

Anyways, I’m going to tell you about that “something extra” that Premium provides.

Hourly billable rates

Hourly billable rates allow you to assign billable rates to your workspace, clients, projects or project team members. These hourly rates are bound to task durations and therefore allow you to see how much you earned with that particular task. That way you don’t have to take out you calculator and cruch numbers – Toggl will do it for you!

Let me show you:

On this next image you can see your workspace settings. There are two fields that define the billable rates for the whole workspace.

On this next picture you’ll see your client’s settings. You can keep the workspace default rates…

…or define client-specific hourly billable rates by clicking on “Set custom rate”. The same can be done in the list of clients – use workspace default or specify:

The next level is project level. It is possible to enter project-specific billable rate, if it differs from workspace or client rate:

You can also set different rates for team members:

The usefulness of hourly billable rates is apparent when you run reports. See it yourself (click for a larger image):

Next, a sample PDF report (again, click for a larger image; you can also see your custom logo, which I’ll tell you about below):

Download the sample PDF report here: Tasks report

Time rounding in reports

Premium subscription gives you the possibility to round task times up in your reports. For example: if your task duration is 38 minutes and you select the 15-minute rounding option, you’ll get a 45 minute task. When adding up the durations of several tasks, as in the weekly report, the duration of each task is rounded up separately. Possible rounding ranges are: 1, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. You can also disable this functionality. A screenshot:

Your custom logo

Thanks to the Premium subscription you will be able to personalize your workspace by uploading you own custom logo. It will replace the Toggl logo on the upper-left side of the Toggl main view. Like this:

And of course, your logo is shown in the PDF reports, like I mentioned earlier.

Priority customer service

We answer to all of our users (subscription plan doesn’t matter) feedback. In case you haven’t received an answer from us in a week, it may be due to technical issues. Please try again! Even so, like the title says, our Premium members’ feedback is read and answered first.

Conclusion

As you see, the Premium functionality can be really useful. We have a lot of new functionality in the works, both for free and Premium plans, to make it more attractive and beneficial for our users.

Well, thats it for now. Thank you for reading this post and I hope you try our 30-day FREE trial Premium subscription.

Cheers!
