We have moved our support forum and FAQ pages to a new place: support.toggl.com.

Our new support environment handles email, public discussions (forum) and FAQs. Since everything is now in one place, it’s a lot easier for us to give support to our users.

In addition, our users no longer need to create a separate user account to participate in forum discussions. You can use your Toggl account to log in to the support environment.

With the new environment in place, we will be phasing out support in our current GetSatisfaction community. Some of the most popular discussions in GetSatisfaction have been re-created in the new environment.

To sum up: if you have a problem, question, suggestion or something else, come to support.toggl.com.

old Classic timer; it has been replaced by the new Classic;

old API; view documentation and code samples about our new RESTful API;

old Windows-only Toggl Desktop (version 1.0.3 and lower) – it has been replaced by the new cross-platform Toggl Desktop.

If you are experiencing strange behaviour, do a refresh to the web page or Toggl Desktop. Questions, comments and everything else can be posted here as a comment or you can write directly to our support mail address.

Toggl Team

UPDATE: There has been a lot of complaints about missing features in the new Classic timer. Here is a list of things that we are improving in the very near future (hopefully we’ll manage to do it next week):

search bar – will search from the task names again;

click on a project name – will start a new task;

title of the pop-out window – will include the current task name in it.

The new Classic timer is ready, only a few small details need to be tweaked. Related to this, we are going to drop the old one. The old Classic has served us for quite a long time but now it’s time to replace it with a more responsive and aesthetically pleasing timer.

As of July 1st, the old Classic will be gone and replaced by the new Classic. For everybody who use the old Classic, the switch to the new one will be automatic.

Try the new one out! Go to “My settings” and select “Timer Classic Nova” as your timer. If you use Toggl Desktop, then right-click on the system tray icon and select “Timer Classic Nova”. Let us know if there is something missing or wrong in the new Classic.

Lately, many of our users who use Firefox, have had problems using the timer on the website. Namely the timer will remain in a loading state and does not show the task list.

This issue is directly related the the offline capabilities of our timers. It seems that Firefox has only partial support for offline caching and therefore the timers do not work properly. This is why we have now disabled the offline support for the timers on the web page (this does not concern Toggl Desktop). It has been disabled across all browsers since Firefox is not the only one lacking complete offline caching support.

If you use Firefox, we recommend the following. Depending on your operating system, open Firefox and go to:

Windows: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline storage;

Mac: Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline storage;

Linux: Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline storage.

Then remove the line that says “www.toggl.com”. After that, reload the web page and the issues of forever-loading timers should disappear.

Let us know if you have questions!

Great news!

Today we launched a brand new version of our Nano timer:

The motivation behind the new Nano was to:

balance the design of the timer with the new administrative interface;

give the timer a more professional look;

make it clearer for first-time users;

add usability improvements like continuing a past task.

The overall personality of Nano has been preserved. There could be some bugs because the new Nano is still in the beta stage. You can try it out though and let us know how it feels. We’ll make adjustments to it based on your feedback.

Go ahead and try it out – select ‘Nano Nova’ as the default timer on ‘My settings’ page.

Your feedback is highly appreciated!

Great news for all of our Linux, Mac and Windows hackers!

We just released the new version of Toggl Desktop (v2.5) as open source. You can find the code at Launchpad.

The regular update procedure (the new version notification dialog) remains the same, so nothing changes for our users who are not interested in the C++ code. The new version is also available on our web page.

However, the new version brought some changes for our Linux users.

Since the new Toggl Desktop uses Qt4.6 and this is not yet in all the repositories then Linux users must enter a few commands to get the necessary dependencies. Here are the steps:

Ubuntu/Kubuntu

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta
sudo apt-get update
launch the installer

Debian

Unfortunately Debian repositories do not include the Qt4.6 yet (except the experimental), so Debian users will have to wait until the Qt4.6 is available in their repository.

The 64-bit Linux version will be available tomorrow.

UPDATE (Linux): You can now add Toggl Desktop to your repository sources list and use the native update mechanism:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:official-toggl/ppa
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install toggl-desktop

Cheers,

Toggl Team

Many of our users have offered help with translating Toggl into their own language or fix existing ones. It has been a bit cumbersome changing translations by email and we decided to make adding new and fixing existing translations a lot easier for our users.

We are now hosting our translations in Launchpad, which enables you to add and modify them. The only prerequisite is a Launchpad account (which is free).

How to help us with having better translations in your own language:

1) Go to Launchpad and create an account if you already don’t have one.

2) Type “Toggl” into to the search box and open the project. (a direct link to the Toggl project)

3) Change/add/modify/update.

Cheers,

Toggl Team

P.S. Good news are coming soon for all you Linux/OSX/Win hackers. We are releasing Toggl Desktop as open source by the end of this January!
