New workspace setting to hide billing information

We added a new workspace setting, “Only admins can see billable rates”. You can find the setting on the “Settings” -> “Workspace” page:

When enabled, it hides all billing and billable rate related information from regular users, only workspace administrators can see rates and amounts. If disabled (the default), everything works like it has been, i.e. regular users see billing information they have access to.

Our Android application now includes a widget

Hey,

We just released a new version of our Android application. The biggest change is that now it includes a widget that gives you fast access to your time entries. It looks like this:

The app has been uploaded to Market and if you installed it from there, you should get an update notification soon. You can also download the new version from our extras/widgets page. I’ll also remind you hackers out there that our Android app is open-source.

We released a new version that includes a new setting for workspaces: “Only admins may create projects”.

Reports updates

We released a new version that amongst other smaller changes added a possibility for the reports to group time entries by tasks.

You’ll find the option to group under “Project report”:

We are also planning to add a more specialized report for tasks with task filters and progress information.

Stay tuned!

New Toggl Desktop, built in 48 hours

Hey,

Good news.  A completely new Toggl Desktop, re-written from scratch, will be launched soon. We – Toggl team and guys from Mooncascade – have built it using a novel approach to software development – Sprint48 – where were are trying to build a working version in just 48 hours.

You can read more about our sprint from:

The reason why we decided to drop the current Toggl Desktop and build a new one from scratch is that we reached a conclusion that the current one has too many issues and the attempt to use a web application as a native application has not worked for us (current one is a site specific browser, i.e. a website in a native container).

Here is a screen shot of what the new Toggl Desktop currently looks like :)

Improvements that the new Toggl Desktop will bring:

  • It is a native application.
  • A lot better offline support.
  • Faster, more responsive.
  • Capabilities to auto-synchronize with the server.
  • Smaller installer.
  • Etc.

Here is a link to the new alpha version for:

NB! Keep in mind that the new Toggl Desktop is still in a very early development stage. There are many features missing, the design is not complete and there can be several bugs. However, if you are feeling adventurous, go ahead, try and let us know what your first impressions are :)

Cheers,

Toggl Team

Old version has been dropped

Hey,

Like the title says, the old version of Toggl has been successfully dropped.

For old Toggl users: from now on, when logging in, you will be automatically redirected to the new version. All the data that you had in the old version is also present in the new version. You don’t have to do anything yourself but you might want to take a look at the introduction to new Toggl and the article on how to use the new timer.

For new Toggl users: nothing changes.

Cheers,

Toggl Team
